The Penny in His Hand

I saw a penny in the palm of a man
who was sitting down an alley near an empty bench
with his peaceful eyes as closed as a new born
and an aura as striking as the sun's quench.

He looked calm like the waves of the ocean
but terrifying as a tsunami when the night came.
Everyone walked with fear in each foot montion
never realizing his undisturbed face.

Days and nights went by as he sat in the alley
Facing over the clock of an abandoned church
while holding in his dirty hands, a penny,
Giving it towards I believe, our Lord.

No one saw the ticks of his wet eye-lids
as he whispered silent prayers,
As he stood up and thanked our God.

Everyone saw an orange suit
and the scars next to his skull.
even though, all he wore were a black vest,
a white shirt, and cloths that were too old.
